지엠대우오토앤테크놀로지(이하 GM DAEWOO)의 글로벌 경차 ‘마티즈 크리에이티브’가 국토해양부에서 최근 실시한 신차 안전도 평가(Korean New Car Assessment Program) 결과, 종합평가 최고등급인 1등급을 기록하는 한편, 보행자 보호 성능 평가에서는 국내 신차 평가 사상 최고 성적인 별 4개(★★★★)를 획득했다.
27일 국토해양부에서 발표한 신차 안전도 평가 결과에 따르면 마티즈 크리에이티브는 차량 안전 성능 평가인 정면, 부분정면과 측면 충돌 시험에서 각각 최고 등급인 별 5개(★★★★★)를 받아 다시 한번 대외적으로 최고 수준의 차량 안전성을 공식 입증했다.
또한, 보행자 보호 성능 평가에서는 1999년부터 시행한 국내 신차 안전도 평가 사상 최고 성적인 별 4개(★★★★)를 최초로 획득했다. 이는 운전자의 뿐만 아니라 보행자의 안전성까지 고려한 GM DAEWOO의 차량 개발에 대한 철학과 열정의 결실.

이번 신차 안전도 평가는 각종 차량 충돌 사고의 상황을 재현, 승객의 머리, 목, 흉부, 복부, 대퇴부 등 신체 부위에 가해지는 충격의 양을 계산하여 차량의 안전성을 판단하는 것으로, 그 충격량이 적어 승객 신체 손상이 적다고 판단될수록 높은 평가를 받게 된다.
마티즈 크리에이티브는 시속 56km/h 정면 충돌 평가시험에서 16점 만점에 15.1과 64km/h 부분 정면 충돌 평가시험에서 14.3점으로 별5개(★★★★★)를 기록했다. 시속 55km/h 측면 충돌 평가시험에서도 15점이라는 우수한 성적으로 별5개(★★★★★)를 획득했다. 이는 전방 안전 뿐만 아니라 측면 안전에서도 우수하다는 것이 입증된 것.
또한 후방 추돌시, 운전자와 승객의 목 상해 여부를 측정하는 좌석 안전성(Whiplash) 평가에서는 별 4개(★★★★)를 기록, 시트의 안전성에서도 매우 우수한 성능이 다시 한번 공식 입증됐다.

Korea’s Safest Minicar – Ever

We just gave our Korean consumers another reason to buy a Matiz Creative over a Kia Morning. The Matiz Creative earned the top rating of five stars for the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP), which released its safety ratings today for new vehicles launched in Korea.
Let’s put all of this into perspective shall we? Or put another way, let me point out something that our press release did not (call it a professional courtesy).
The Matiz Creative outscored the Renault Samsung SM3 and came close to toppling the Lexus ES350. Big results for a minicar. Let me restate that just so that we all understand it. Our minicar beat out two vehicles, which are larger than Matiz Creative.
According to the KNCAP, the Matiz Creative received a maximum five stars in its Frontal Crash Test, Offset Frontal Crash Test and Side Crash Test. The Matiz Creative, which is sold as a Chevrolet Spark in the rest of the world, had received a four-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) last November.
The Matiz Creative is the benchmark for safety in the minicar segment. These KNCAP scores are outstanding and the test results confirm that the Matiz Creative ensures outstanding safety performance in collisions from all directions – front, side and rear.
What’s more surprising is that Matiz Creative received four stars in its Pedestrian Test, which is the highest scores among all tested vehicles regardless of its segment. Matiz Creative approved its friendliness to the pedestrian.

Seoul – GM Daewoo’s new global mini-car, the Matiz Creative, has earned the top rating of five stars from the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP), which today released its safety ratings for new vehicles launched in Korea.
According to KNCAP, the Matiz Creative received a maximum five stars in its Frontal Crash Test, Offset Frontal Crash Test and Side Crash Test. The model had received a four-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) last November.
“Following the great results in Europe, we are very pleased to prove again in Korea that the Matiz Creative offers benchmark safety,” said Mike Arcamone, President and CEO of GM Daewoo. “GM Daewoo has made safety a focus as part of our ongoing commitment to build the best vehicles in the world.”
The KNCAP test, which was conducted by the Korean Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs, simulated various car collisions to evaluate the impact on passengers’ body parts such as the head, neck, chest, abdomen and femur.
The Matiz Creative received a score of 15.1 percent out of 16 percent and a five-star rating in the Frontal Crash Test at 56 km/h. It also received a five-star rating in the Offset Frontal Crash Test at 64 km/h, and Side Crash Test at 54 km/h against a moving deformable barrier.
In the Whiplash Test, which evaluates the impact on a passenger’s neck from a rear-end collision, the vehicle scored a four-star rating (4.8 points out of a maximum 6 points). In the Pedestrian Protection, it also received a four- star rating with the best scores ever (19.54 points out of a maximum 30 points) in every car category.
The overall test results confirm the Matiz Creative ensures outstanding safety performance in collisions from all directions: front, side and rear.
The Matiz Creative’s global benchmark for safety has been recognized both at home and abroad since its launch last August. In addition to the five-star rating from KNCAP and four-star rating from Euro NCAP, it also received a grade 1 rating from the Korea Insurance Development Institute (KIDI).
