안녕하세요 여러분.
어제 이태원에서 열린 소셜미디어 송년회에 오셨던 모든 분들. 참석해주셔서, 그리고 좋은 의견을 주신데 대해 다시 한번 감사 드립니다. 어젠 정말 멋진 날이었습니다. 또한 온라인팀의 김명기, 송욱진, Colonel 그리고 함께 멋진 저녁을 준비했던 김재수 상무에게도 감사를 전하지 않을 수 없네요.
몇 가지 덧붙이자면 마이크 아카몬 사장은 매우 만족스러워 하시면서 자리를 떠났습니다.
마이크 사장은 파워블로거와 소셜미디어의 강력한 후원자입니다. 또한 향후 여러분의 영향력이 더욱 커질 것이라 믿고 있습니다. 사장님은 소셜미디어는 이제 글로벌 커뮤니케이션의 영역이라고 생각합니다. 어제 마이크 사장이 언급했고 제가 확인 드렸듯이 지엠대우는 소셜미디어와 함께 특별한 행사, 미디어 프로그램, 인터뷰 및 시승기회를 지속적으로 시행할 것입니다. 그리고 저희가 고객의 요구에 더욱 부합할 수 있도록 여러분의 지속적인 의견을 부탁드립니다.
제가 있던 테이블에서는 쉐보레 브랜드에 대한 많은 이야기가 오고 갔습니다. 이걸 말씀 드리고 싶습니다. 언제, 어떤 차량에 적용할 것인지에 대한 최종 결정은 아직 내려지지 않았습니다. 좀 더 지켜봐 주시기 바랍니다.
또한 젠트라 후속, 국외에서 쉐보레 아베오로 알려지기도 한, 차세대 소형차에 대한 이야기가 많았습니다. 이 차에 대해 무수한 질문이 쏟아졌는데 지엠대우가 이 차량의GM의 글로벌 홈룸인 만큼, 이 차세대 소형차는 한국에서 디자인과 개발이 진행되었고 내년부터 국내에서 생산할 것입니다. 한 두 달 전쯤에 연구용차량을 타보고 작성한 노트가 있습니다. 오늘 아침 그 노트를 다시 꺼내 들었습니다.
저는 이 차가 좋습니다. 제 생각에는 이 차는 현재의 우리 수준을 훨씬 뛰어넘는 차량입니다. 소형차 시장에 돌풍이 되지 않을까요. 제 노트의 내용입니다.
훌륭한 퍼포먼스. 역동적이며, 그 클라스에서 가장 조용할 것 같음. 샤시는 아주 단단함. 유럽차 같은 느낌. Ride & Handling이 훌륭. 반응성도 아주 뛰어남. 조용하며 쉽게 변속이 됨.
디자인은 아주 멋짐. 독특함. 해드램프가 좋음. 저장공간이 큰 것에 놀랐음. 콕핏 형상의 인테리어가 맘에듬.인스트루먼트 클러스터는 스포티한 느낌을 제공. 앞 뒷자리 모두 편함. 뒷 자리 레그룸은 큰 문제가 안될 듯.
전반적으로, 이 차는 현명한 한국 소비자를 비롯, 해외 시장을 만족할 것이라 자신합니다. 우리 손에는 승리자가 있습니다. 만약 여러분이 유럽 스타일을 좋아한다면 우리의 차세대 소형차 역시 좋아하게 될 것이라 믿습니다.

Social Media Holiday Party – Some More Points I Wanted to Make

For those of you who participated in our Social Media Year End Party last night in Itaewan, I want to thank you once again for your kind comments and attendance. It was a super night. I’d be remiss if I did not thank the GM DAEWOO On-Line Team – Myonggi Kim, WookJin Song and Colonel – as well as Jaesoo Kim for putting a great night together.
A couple of quick follow ups….
President Arcamone left the dinner very satisfied. He is a huge supporter of social media and power bloggers and sees your influence growing significantly in the days to come. He thinks social media are engaged in global communications and as both he said, and I endorsed last night, we will continue to seek you out and work with you on special events, media programs, interviews and Ride and Drives. Thanks for your continued support. And please, continue to provide us with your feedback so that we can better service your needs.
At my table, there were a lot of discussions about Chevrolet. Here is what I have to say: no final decision yet on the when and where and what vehicles. Stay tuned.
There was also a huge discussion at my table on our next generation small car, the Gentra replacement, or as it is known outside of Korea, the Chevrolet Aveo. As GM’s global home room for this vehicle – it was designed and engineered in Korea and will be built here starting next year, I was bombarded with questions about the T300. So this morning, I went back to the notes I made after I drove several engineering vehicles a month or two ago.
What can I say? I love the car. It is a huge step up from our current vehicle and in my mind, “a game changer” in the segment. Without giving everything away here are a few of my notes.
Great performance. Dynamically this is a good car, quite possibly best in class. Chassis is very stiff. European driving experience. Excellent ride and handling. Very responsive. Quiet. Effortless shift ability.
Design is fantastic. Unique. Love the headlamps. Surprised (good) at the amount of storage space. Really like the cockpit layout. Instrument cluster provided real “sporty feel”. Comfortable front and rear seats. Leg room not an issue in the back seat.
Overall, confident this will satisfy our discerning Korean customers and our global customers. I think we have a winner on our hands! If you like Europe; you’ll love our new next-generation global small car.
